Compared to Android USB cords, all iPhone cords I've seen are very thin.

What is the reason?

Why are iPhone charger cords/wire so thin? This question has puzzled many people, including myself. After doing some research, I discovered that the answer lies in physics and engineering.

The physics behind it is that the thinner the wire, the less resistance it has. This means that the current can flow through more easily, making charging faster. In addition, thinner wires are also easier to manufacture and cost less money.

As for the engineering side of things, it is all about optimising space. Thinner wires take up less space, which is important in something like an iPhone where every millimetre counts.

So there you have it! The next time you wonder why your iPhone charger cord is so thin, remember that it's all thanks to physics and engineering.

I actually thinking that thicker wires passes more current and accounts for faster charging.

Most people don't think about the design of their iPhone charger cords/wire, but there's a reason why they're so thin. Believe it or not, the thinner the cord/wire, the more efficient it is. A thicker cord/wire would actually waste more energy because it would create more resistance. The thinner cord/wire minimizes that resistance and allows for a faster charge. So next time you're wondering why your iPhone charger cord/wire is so thin, remember that it's actually a good thing!

One of the most common questions we get here at iFixit is “Why are iPhone charger cords/wires so thin?” Well, there are a few reasons.

First and foremost, Apple wants to keep the iPhone as slim as possible. If the company used thicker wires, it would add unnecessary bulk to the phone.

Second, thinner wires are easier to route inside the device. This is especially important in something like the iPhone, where space is limited.

Third, thinner wires are less likely to break. This may not seem like a big deal, but when you consider that people often use their phones while they’re on the go, it makes sense that Apple would want to make them as durable as possible.

Finally, thinner wires offer better performance. They’re able to carry more current than thicker wires, which means they can charge your phone faster.

There are a few reasons for this. One is that the iPhone’s power adapter is very compact, so there’s not a lot of space for a thick cable. Another reason is that the thinner the cable, the less it will get tangled. And finally, a thinner cable is just easier to pack into your bag when you’re traveling.

The trend for smaller and thinner electronic devices has led to a demand for thinner charging cords. The iPhone charger cord is one of the thinnest on the market, measuring just 2.4 mm in diameter. This thinness makes it more flexible and easier to wind up, making it ideal for use with portable devices. The thinness of the cord also helps to keep the overall size and weight of the charger down, making it more convenient to carry around.

The iPhone charger cords/wire are so thin because they use a special type of wire called twisted pair. This wire is made up of two thin wires that are twisted together. The twisting helps to cancel out the electrical interference from other devices, which can cause the signal to be degraded.

The iPhone charger cords/wire are so thin because they use a type of conductor called a nanocrystal. Nanocrystals are made up of very small particles that can carry an electric current. They are much thinner than traditional metal wires, making them ideal for use in small devices like the iPhone.
